New Look Coming... Now E-mail

I had been using this look for about a year now and while its clean and served its purpose, I have decided to work on a new look to keep things fresh. The new look features my Flickr photostream at the very top to replace the picture gallery. I am currently putting a lot of focus on Flickr to hande my photo sharing now. I am growing fond of Flickr despite their lack luster use of groups and communities which could use a serious revamp to make user interaction a smoother and easier by taking tips from the newer portal and forum designers.

So, my thoughts are to utilize Flickr to the max and simplify my photo sharing to save time. I will be ditching my PixelPost photoblog using DarkMatters attractive theme. This was a great option for a photoblog and I recommend it to anyone who is not afraid of installing and configuring PHP software on their servers. It does have a few issues however and updates are much slower and fewer than compared to say Joomla or WordPress updates. It still can serve as a fine way to share photos. I am mostly eliminating it just to minimize places I must upload photos too and thus, save time in return.

How Could I Not? E-mail

Well, I am wondering if my name is circulating on a list along with media of my appearance outside of a federal building? Reason? I recently was approached and warned not to shoot photos of a particular building because it was a federal building. Hmm, I really wasn't aware. Well, to some degree. It sits right in downtown Dayton, Ohio. I have a habit of taking photo walks at lunch once or twice a week and on my last excursion, I drove past a modern building that really caught my eye.

The building was a nice design utilizing right angles and mirrored windows along with a deep bark brown exterior that really looked great on a sunny day with deep blue skies and big fluffy white clouds. The reflection of the sky on the large area of windows almost seemed as if the building had one large window to see the sky without obtrusion. How could I not shoot this great building on a perfect sky filled day?

Photoblog Just Passed 400 Milestone E-mail

I just noticed my photoblog has passed the 400 image milestone. I have taken many more photos in my life but I just started the photoblog about a year ago and only post my better and more interesting shots. Looking back, I have many photos from past vacations, volunteering help for employers, hiking trips, motorcyling trips, lunch walks, by chance shots etc. in my the library.

Most of my shots tend to be landscape and nature as well. I think that is because I can find those photo ops all around me with less hassle to capture. I have some shots of people but not near as many as I would like. I am think I am slowing moving into that area more and more though.

Well, here's to the big 500... may it come with alive in the eyes of opportunity and hold a value of significance in my eyes, greater than any other... I look forward to shooting it.

Sadly, just recently I lost a drive in my computer. It was a terabyte drive that had 2 partitions, one for photo storage and one for a second operating system I was building up to use. The drive was less than a year old and purchased as a add-on slave to my current drive. So, no loss because it was backed-up right? Well, partially...

Dayton Tea Party Founder & President Rob Scott spoke to Congressman Turner's Chief of Staff and was assured that Congressman Turner is voting NO on Cap and Trade. Congressman Turner stated to the Dayton Tea Party:

"I voted against the $700 billion bailout plan and the $800 billion stimulus plan. I am also opposed to the Administration's Cap & Trade bill. This bill could prove devastating to many Ohio families and small businesses who are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the current economic crisis."

Sky Replacement E-mail

Just recently I got a published example of an "At Home" tabloid that was produced by my employer. I normally don't look at this publication but I was interested because my photo manipulation work was on the cover. I was asked to add some color to the sky of a photo they wanted to use for the cover shot. It was taken on an overcast day in the evening which made the sky blown out with no detail and the building very drab and cool in tones. So I find an evening sky with a bit more interest and proceeded to use a combination of layer masking and layer blending to replace the sky. It was about a 30 minute job that worked out surprisingly well. See pic below. Before on top and after on bottom.
