Today, I my took my lunch break and drove my fairly new 27" iMac to MacDepot where it will be serviced. It's only 7 months old but the display has started to act up and it became intolerable. Bad Apple?!
First, it started blacking out like it was asleep and would only return if I held in the power button or restarted the system. Really annoying when you are in the middle of a project.
Second, it started having an issue with the screen brightness but only on the left side of the screen. The left side of the screen is always 2 or 3 steps darker than the right and sometimes will flicker.
I believe this is a failing graphics card. Could be LCD display too but considering I know two owners of previous generation iMacs whom both had to have their graphics card replaced at some point. Seems that is a weak point on the iMacs.
I hope it will be fixed quick but was told probably about 2 weeks because the shop is really busy. Luckily, I still have the G5 Macbook Pro with OSX 10.5 from work I can use. Its old and battery life is about 45 minutes so it's a tethered laptop.
Right now I am jonesing for Lightroom to process some pics. I have about 50 Chevy Nomads and Ford Fairlane 500 photos I'd like to process and add to my catalog. <sigh>
